How Anganwadi services are administered in Rajasthan

Anganwadi services in Rajasthan are delivered under the Integrated Child Development Services framework, grouped nationally under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 and implemented by the State through its Women and Child Development Department and ICDS directorate. District implementation runs through the district ICDS office, with Child Development Project Officers at block level and Supervisors below them. Because a share of centres nationally operate from rented, panchayat or borrowed rooms, the first question on a Rajasthan centre list is usually ownership: a centre the department does not own may not permit permanent civil work, and in that case the funded scope is better spent on furniture, learning material, painting and equipment that can be accounted for and, if necessary, relocated.

Ownership before scope

We check the ownership and tenure of each centre before proposing civil work. Recommending a roof treatment for a room the department does not own wastes a funder’s budget and is not a mistake we want to make on site.

Play-based learning setups

Where a funder wants a centre to work as an early-learning space rather than only a repaired room, the scope combines BaLA-style wall design, child-scale furniture, indoor play and FLN material into one measured package.

Distance decides the cluster

Inter-district travel legs in Rajasthan are long. Centres are grouped geographically so one execution run covers a workable set, which is usually what makes a multi-centre package affordable.
